I want to be able to record as much over the air HDTV programming on a computer to use as my DVR. Most of the TV shows I watch are on network TV and I don’t want to pay the extra bucks to upgrade my satellito to HD programming. Converting to HD programming via Satellite or Cable is too costly when I all the shows I like are free in the first place.

Why do HDTV cable boxes make low-pitch buzzing noises and feel hot to the touch even when they’re off, whereas when an analog TV cable box is off is silent and cool to the touch? One time the cable box buzzed so loudly, even though it was off, that we unplugged it; only then did it stop buzzing. My HDTV cable box is a Motorola brand and is provided by Verizon in the D.C. area. Aren’t there any silent cool-to-the-touch HDTV cable boxes available? Thanks.
I have a flat screen tv with all the connections, and a couple extra i dont know about, and when i hook up the hdtv cable and switch the switch i get a black screen, but i still hear sound, plz help. Where exatly do i hook the connections, from the top i have (y green) (Pb blue) (Pr red) Then audio white red. Please help
