Can A Modern Macbook Pro Power An Hdtv Monitor With Hdmi Interface?

February 8th, 2010 by Elextron | Filed under HDTV.

If I were to buy one of the current large screen LCD HDTVs that has an HDMI interface, can my Mac power this? If so, what special cable/adapter do I need and what resolution would I get?

I connect my MacBook Pro to my HD tv using the last port on the right side of the computer. I bought a cable at Radio Shack ans connected it to the same port on the back of the TV. I think it is called a DVI port??? THe resolution is great.
I just watched APOCALYPTO using this set up.
