I just recently bought my dad a 42″ sceptre HDTV. But it gets no reception. We tried to ask the seller but since he had satellite he didn’t have a problem with this and does not have any further info… 
can anyone help me?

When was the TV manufactured?
All TV’s bigger than 36 inches were required to have a built-in ATSC digital tuner after July 2005.
Look for “ATSC” on the back of the TV. Also does your remote have a dash so you can enter digital sub-channels like 2-1 or 11-3 or 4-2?
