With Hdtv Does Viewing Welding Burn Your Retina?

February 8th, 2010 by Elextron | Filed under HDTV.

I always been taught never look at a welder welding in real life. But isnt HDTV about the same thing and won’t that burn your retina as well? And there is a lot of welding you can see on HDTV in a day.

No. The intensity of light from a TV is limited by the light source the TV uses. These light sources are not nearly as powerful as a bare arc from a welder. Secondly, there is a lot of UV radiation from a bare arc and the HDTV has little to no UV radiation.

No, it would definantly not be bright enough to burn your eyes. Also, I’m not so sure they’d even allow them to air something that could damage your body like that. There is nothing to worry about.
